This worked when we used Android 1.0.
For the PC to detect your Android and you can put / remove things on the card or send commands from the console of the PC you install their drivers.
If you use Windows (32-bit)
1. Download the driver (http://dl.google.com/android/android_usb_windows.zip) and uncompress
2. Connect Android phone to PC via USB (to connect the phone prompts you to allow mount, you say yes)
3. HW if you look for drivers, tell NO.
4. In the next screen will tell that you seek out the location of the drivers.
5. Find the folder where you extracted the driver.
6. You click Finish or OK.
If you use Mac OS X, mounts only, not to do anything.
If you are using Ubuntu Linux you must add the following rules:
1. Login as root and create the following file: / etc/udev/rules.d/50-android.rules
If you have Gutsy / Hardy, you should make the file has the following properties of reading
SUBSYSTEM == “usb”, SYSFS (idVendor) == “0BB4″, MODE = “0666″
If you have Draper, the following
SUBSYSTEM == “USB_DEVICE”, SYSFS (idVendor) == “0BB4″, MODE = “0666″
2. Run the following command
chmod a + rx / etc/udev/rules.d/50-android.rules
